"For me you can see why football is global where as Ice Hockey is mainly in the Russian countries and America, as it just isn't that exciting."

It's about opinions of course but that is a bit of a silly leap.

It could be that it requires ice and a whole lot of money to play it, especially these days. Football does not.

PS I also think Basketball is as boring as it gets - even though I'm impressed at how often some players lob in a 3 pointer.

I know the level is completely different Irons, but a friend from school used to play for the Romford Raiders and so I'd go and watch them every week they were at home.

Different when you're bought up on it obviously.

"Ice Hockey is proper shit as well unless you're bought up on it - I imagine."

That's what most of my friends thought about (proper) football growing up. So, as you say: can't account for ignorance.

General downhill and slalom skiing bores the hell out of me, but I do like the quick ski races where 4 people compete at the same time on either ski's or snowboards.

Don't necessarily prefer, there are sports we compete well in during both but the big names are winter (often pro) athletes.

They used to be the same year and then went so there are an Olympiad of some sort every 2 years. Easy to remember as its the same the World Cup and Euros.

Grumps,

Yes I gathered that, actually I think I prefer the Winter Olympics myself. Thought they were only a year apart though.

Funnily enough I was in Newcastle NSW when we beat Newcastle 3-0.

Re: 1998
I imagine Canadians like Norwegians prefer the winter Olympics Mr Burns you pillock.

Because we don't get any snow, we generally couldn't give two fucks about it!

As for 98? Can't remember much as I had a drinking problem, though met a couple of birds in Edinburgh and arranged to stay at her pub in Newcastle when we played up there. Lovely 3-0 win and a cracking night in a proper shit hole of a pub.

Heaven.
